Accommodation for Women in Italy

December 20, 2013 by Rosemary

Women Travel began with wanting to advertise a Lodge we had built in New Zealand for women travelers.  Since then Women Travel has grown from NZ to be a world site with unique women owned accommodation around the world.  Our latest is Cascina Bricchetto Langhe in the North of Italy.  (All Women Travel Accommodation in Italy)

Cascina Bricchetto Langhe – Northern Italy

Giovanna
Giovanna

Your Host is Giovanna (Joan)

Giovanna is proud to be a grandmother, with  a son and a daughter who live and work away. She also has a 7 year old nephew who is called Giacomo (James), the future.  Also two dogs share her days , and the female is called Peppa is a Pyrenean Shepherd 6 years old , the male is called Pippo and is a small mestizo 3 years.

Giovanna writes:

19 years ago I bought this land, and in my holidays from work I learnt the techniques of cultivation of the vineyards that surround the farm, and planted many trees. Finally I decided to devote myself exclusively to the land at Cascina Bricchetto Langhe and to renovate the ancient stone structures and to open some guest houses.

cascina-windowWhen I open the shutters in the morning, I often think: “how beautiful Monviso is in the sunshine, or how wonderful the clouds are in the sky , or how magical is the misty landscape, or, even how fairy-like the snowfall is!” Then when I close them in the evening, I see the lights of the small villages in the hills opposite (Diano d’Alba, La Morra) and of the houses scattered among the hills and I thank heartily my lucky stars what led me here, where you are surrounded by such beauty.

It was during one of those moments that I thought I would like to share this marvel with other people as well and so I started renovating to create two accommodations to be used for farm holidays

Why I Chose the Langhe:

For the beauty of the landscape, the character of the local people who are kind and discreet and the charm of an old stone farmhouse. For an area where old traditions and rituals are still alive and for the excellence of local produce: wines (Arneis, Barbaresco, Barolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato …), and foods that change with the seasons

Cascina Bricchetto Langhe

topia1People who stay here are “guests” not just customers, I want them to enjoy their stay to the fullest by helping them to experience our way of life, to soak up the beauty of this area , to discover and enjoy our wines and foods unique in the world, making sure that they return home with a unique and authentic experience . Here is a bit more about the two guest houses at Cascina Bricchetto:

Cà dra Topia ( the Grape Pergola House)

topia3On the ground floor there is a small entrance hall leading to an open plan kitchen/ living room /dining room with comfortable sofas . The kitchen is very well equipped for the amateur or gourmet chef. There is also one double bedroom and bathroom with a shower.

On the first floor reached by a beautiful solid wooden spiral staircase, a real work of art, there are two further wooden floored double bedrooms, both with ensuite shower rooms. Each bedroom has a balcony with a splendid view of the surrounding hills and the Alps dominated by Monviso. The bathrooms are supplied with soap, shampoo and hairdryer.

breadovenCa der Forn ( the Bread Oven House )

On the ground floor there is a small entrance hall leading to a very spacious open plan kitchen/ living room /dining room with comfortable sofas and a cosy split level area close to the working fireplace. The kitchen is very well equiped for the amateur or gourmet chef. There is also one double bedroom and bathroom with a shower.

Each bedroom has a balcony with a splendid view of the surrounding hills and the Alps dominated by Monviso. The bathrooms are supplied with soap, shampoo and hairdryer.

In the grounds of Cascina Bricchetto:
You will find a covered area for eating al fresco, a covered parking area and various toys for the children e.g. swings, sandpit, rocking horse, skittles. From the house you can take many quiet country walks along the small country lanes.

The Unique Benefits at these Houses: The quietness of nature broken only by a tractor , being completely immersed in the vineyards and admiring the colours of the sunsets and the sunrises.
