Mariella Cobianchi writes about why she founded The Rest of the Wayfarer B&B for women:
The culture of the bed & breakfast has arrived in the past few years to Italy and Genoa, the city where I live.
The people who choose them are different and the needs are different … and so I thought I’d open a b&b just for women.
The project is shaped by my own desire: When I travel, I’ve always wanted a place to sleep where I feel comfortable, quiet, relaxing, a situation similar to my own home or a friend. So the idea of sharing with other women guests, with whom to share a bathroom or have breakfast together seemed a great idea. For me sharing accommodation with other women makes me feel at ease.
I finally got the chance to find a great home where I could develop this project and for less than two months I have opened my small Bed & Breakfast, “The Rest of the Wanderer”.
From the description and photos on you know it’s a small and cozy, with three beds in one double bedroom and one single … so as to cater to those who prefer one or shared accommodation. The living room is bright and when you get up to make breakfast, it’s nice to be in an environment where the light comes from the sun, bright and joyful.
In the the evening relaxing on the couch with some music playing, and share with the guests how your day has gone exploring Genoa.
Don’t be put off by the six flights of stairs – like most old buidings in the Centre, this the way they were built – remember “Stairs are good for your health” – and oh what fabulous views of the City there are from the Terrace.
I speak a bit of English and French, and then there’s the non-verbal communication that always helps …
