Over a period of 25 years Lyn Baker has taken over 1000 women on small group tours in India with her company Tiger Travel. She has just launched a new business Senoritas in the Sun – small groups of women enjoying the South of Spain. Women Travel caught Lyn between trips and interviewed her about her passion for India and more recently for Andalucia Spain
What keeps you going after all this time:
My love of India and also because today’s woman wants to travel solo more than ever with a small group of other women. The fun they and I have is worth all the work involved and they certainly appreciate someone with them who has knowledge of the country and its culture, which in turn allows me to take women to many places and events other tour operators do not, as they are simply unaware of them.
Moments in Time is a Lyn’s book about the Indian journey she has made her own.
Where are you based?
My friend Elaine Dee Crawshaw and I moved to a house in Lecrin Valley near Granada in Southern Spain, we did up the small house next door and opened it for guests – El Mulito, only 40 mins to Granada, its a fantastic base to explore the south of Spain. The Lecrin Valley is the base for our Senoritas in the Sun tours.
Senoritas in the Sun – how did this begin
Because we live in such a beautiful part of Spain here in Andalucia. This is the real Spain, and we wanted to share it with other women. Also many women who had been on tour with me in India asked me if I did tours to other places, so the answer seemed obvious – and Senoritas in Spain was born.
Mostly women on our tours are from the United Kingdom, but more recently we have enquiries from Canada and the USA.
