Fernweh Fair Travel
– Responsible Travel in India
With a focus on organising authentic travel off the beaten paths, stay with locals, eat local food, work with women self-help groups/NGO’s. We focus on responsible travel where we work directly with the locals and respect the environmental and social responsibilities.
- Indian Himalayas (Uttrakhand)
- Indonesia ( Bali- little village near Ubud and Gili air)
- Italy (Tuscany)
- Germany ( Rhein-Pfalz )
In March 2017 there are two great trips – one celebrating Holi and the other a celebration of the flowers of the Himalayas. More
This Himalayan Homestay is run by women and offers a unique opportunity to be part of village life in the Uttrakhand area of India.
Poonam has started village and handicraft programs in Indian Himalayas and Bali to generate an income for the underprivileged villagers and artisans (mostly women) Travellers get to experience real country directly with the locals…it’s a beautiful experience. They see the local life from very close while staying in comfortable and charming accommodation enjoying home grown and home cooked organic meals.
Travellers get a list of dos and don’ts as we want to preserve the culture and tradition values of these villagers while being respectful towards them. Poonam has been able to start these programs as she knows these villagers personally, these villagers are in remote locations where no other tourists have been too.
I am very happy to have started these programs as we can really support villagers plus I am getting wonderful feedback from our travellers.
Fernweh Fair Travel and Peaches and Pears B&B can both be found on the Women Travel the World Website. There is also a landing page that focuses particularly on travel opportunities for women in India
