A Women’s B&B in Florence

November 20, 2008 by Rosemary

womens B&B - ceri 004It is not ‘a’ women’s B&B, it is ‘The’ women’s B&B! To emphasise this point, its name is even B&B. As long as I have been working in the women’s travel network, this B&B which has been in business now for over 10 years, has been one of the great icons. The apartment is managed by Christina, owned by Liana Borghi and the business was started by Paulo, who now manages La Foresteria in Rome.

Right in the heart of Florence, it is indeed ‘A room with a view’, as advertised. The spacious rooms look over a beautiful garden, and from most you can see the dome of the Duomo. The only negative thing I have ever heard about it is the stairs (it is on the 3rd Floor), but after battling the authorities for 10 years, there is now a lift – so that problem is solved.

The building is in an historic precinct, so planning controls are strict – some of the building dates from the 11th Century, but most of it is 18th and this apartment has been immaculately furnished and finished. Christina and Liana were very welcoming and helped us with lots of information, as well as sharing with us some of the story of the B&B.

florence_duomoThere is a help yourself breakfast provided and free wireless internet, which is great for us bloggers. This place is a definate must stay in Italy – Ceridwyn and Danielle have fallen in love with Florence, and after 5 days in Lucca they are coming back to stay, I am going back to stay another night, and only wish it was longer.
