Make The Most Out Of Your Trip To Croatia With These Fabulous Activities

April 7, 2016 by Rosemary

Croatia

The Eastern European country of Croatia has seen a tremendous rise in popularity in recent years. From it’s stunning national parks and beaches to its energetic nightlife, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re looking for romance, fun or relaxation,

Croatia has it all. It’s hardly surprising that tourists have finally discovered how wonderful this country is.

To ensure you make the most out of every second of your trip here, here are some fabulous activities you should try. They will help you see this country’s true culture, people, and scenery and give you a fantastic holiday to remember.

Hand carve your own toy

Toy making is a traditional craft that the Croatian people are incredibly proud of. In the region of Hrvatsko Zagorje, they have been hand carving wooden toys for centuries. They use the locally grown willow, beech and maple trees to create 50 styles of toy. Which are then lovingly painted with environmentally friendly paints. So instead of buying a mass produced souvenir, why not make your own. Visit Marija Bistrica in central Croatia to get some tips from some of the best wooden toymakers in the world. This activity will give you a glimpse into the local people’s livelihoods and heritage while also learning new skills.

Attend a festival

Croatia is fast becoming one of the top festival destinations in Europe. Which is another reason why it has risen in popularity with tourists. From film festivals to food festivals, you can get a real taste of what this country is all about. These events are held throughout the year, up and down the country.

With so much choice and variety, it shouldn’t be difficult to find one or two that suit. If you love live and modern music, try out Croatia’s largest open-air festival, Inmusic. Or for a more cultural experience, try out Zagreb’s Cest Is D’ Best. This colourful street festival has dances, sports, games and music to get involved with. Check what other Croatian festivals are being held during your trip for a fun and eye-opening experience.

Sail along the coastline

One of the most popular must try activities in Croatia is sailing. With over 1000 islands, brilliant blue waters, and romantic beaches, it would be foolish not to travel by boat during your stay here. Taking a trip along the Adriatic coast will show you just how stunningly gorgeous this country is. Get the best of both worlds and spend your days travelling and exploring the ocean and mainland.

You can try fresh seafood that is caught by local fishermen while soaking up the sunset. With 1000 miles of coastline there’s plenty of landscape, fishing villages and watersports for you to thoroughly enjoy. There is no better way of discovering the true Croatia than by boat.

So if lounging around the beach isn’t really your style, why not give these activities a try. Croatia’s energy and beauty is something that needs to be seen to be believed. So why not discover as much of it as you can while you are here.
