The tour operator ISlandfrauen offers women-only workshop trips in the Icelandic Westfjords. All travels take place outside the high tourist season. The destination of the trips is the small historic town of Þingeyri.
In the unique nature of the Icelandic Westfjords – with towering mountains and harsh climate – women find time to oneself and discover the region. Helga, the founder of ISlandfrauen, is originally from Germany and spirited about her adopted home: “We use the nature, mysticism and legends of Iceland, because they are particularly well-suited for to ‘discover yourself’.”
On offer are several workshop-trips for German speaking women on various topics, such as “Recharge one’s batteries (Kraft Tanken)”, “Wishes come true (Wünsche erfüllen)” and “Get to know Iceland (Island kennenlernen)”. English speakers can enjoy “Get to know Iceland” and “Awaken your Energies”.
The retreats include meditation, Qi Gong, breathing exercises, drums and creative work. In the evenings, it is possible to place runes, listen to stories, or sing Icelandic songs. Local walks and a tour of the area round off the visitors’ experience. Outside of the workshop there’s plenty of time for swimming, horseback riding or just doing nothing. The whole trip ends with an entertaining evening with locals around the campfire.
The workshop trips can be booked directly through the ISlandfrauen website.
