Sicily has a combination of breathtaking natural features, intriguing arts and charming villas all at your disposal
With so many vacation destinations in the world, it can be confusing to settle for one. However, very few people debate on whether they can go to Italy or not when the opportunity presents itself. Sicily is one of the greatest world destinations: there’s a reason why Goethe, in his “Italienische Reise” (Italian Journey), said “Without Sicily, Italy cannot be fully understood. It is here one finds the key to all things”.
So… rent a holiday home in Sicily and have the perfect stay! For you to optimally enjoy what Sicily has to offer, you need to secure yourself some convenient boarding facility. The last thing you want is hopping from one temporary accommodation to another every other day, but this should not be the case in the first place when you can rent a villa.
Sicily is well endowed with nature’s best including mountains, seas and hills. These features contribute towards creating the magnificent colour combos that is characteristic of Sicily. If you are looking for a vacation destination that is vibrant and calming, then Sicily is your go to place. Furthermore, its sea beds are just magnificent. Bring your family and friends on a trip that they will always remember.
Some people just want to get away from the hustle and bustle of ordinary life, especially in busy cities. Sicily offers you just that: stunning islands spread all round, with unique flora and fauna, crystal sea, suggestive hills and mountains. The flavours and aromas of nature best serve as a reminder that, when treated kindly, nature is rewarding and calming…
The interesting cultural diversity of Sicily is in itself an interesting attraction. It is no wonder that UNESCO has recognized the important role of Sicily in the history of Italy. The archaeological evidence left all over is a true indication of nature’s unspoiled setting, something that cannot be said for most parts of the world. Sicily boasts an original melting pot and it is an open air museum for art and architecture of the Mediterranean, since during over 10.000 years of history, the conquerors brought different artistic styles.
For instance, art lovers cannot miss the Baroque jewels of Modica, Noto and Scicli, all in the amazing Val di Noto: centuries of history and baroque treasure will enchant the lucky visitors. Modica’s beautiful architecture has been recognised as an incredible outcome of the exuberant Baroque art. The town consists of two urban centres, “Modica Alta” (Upper Modica) and “Modica Bassa” (Lower Modica). The older upper part is the one that lies on the rocky top of the southern Iblei hill, whilst lower Modica is built on the lower slopes and valley below.
Part of the old medieval quarter in Modica Alta is a bit neglected but other parts have been and restored. Along with other towns in the Val di Noto, it is part of UNESCO Heritage Sites in Italy. Modica was rebuilt after the great earthquake of 1693 and provides a fine late-Baroque architecture as well as a quaint medieval old town. One of the main attraction is Duomo di San Giorgio, with its famous twin staircases climbing to the church.
Also Noto is a unique place. Located on a plateau dominating the valley of the Asinaro, this little town is an incredible, tiny Baroque jewel… the dream of every tourist! In 2002 Noto and its cathedral were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 1996 part of Saint Nicholas of Myra church collapsed but it was then reopened in 2007, so nowadays it is possible to visit it.
However, if you are to explore and enjoy everything that Sicily has to offer, you must have appropriate accommodation. Like everything else in Sicily, you can always book some of the grand Villas spread all over the region and fortunately, you will always find something that matches your taste and preferences at an affordable rate.
