Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy. It is a popular holiday location and is located in northern Italy, about half-way between Brescia and Verona, and between Venice and Milan. Glaciers formed this alpine region at the end of the last Ice Age.
Thomson’s Map features five of the towns around Lake Garda, each providing a different experience.
In the North
- Riva with it’s regular ferry service that’ll take you from the north to the south of the lake
- Limone surrounded by olive groves and the remains of old lemon houses.
- Malcesine Sitting above Malcesine is the Church of St. Stefanow which has been a place of worship for centuries.
In the South
- Garda is a fishing village – it’s colourful boats regularly heading out to fish.
- Bardalino – visit the historical Church of San Nicolo
Lake Garda also has it’s own website if you want to explore further
