To be a Pilgrim… Walk the Camino

August 8, 2017 by Rosemary

Camino de santiago - pilgrimCamino de Santiago is the name of any of the pilgrimage routes, known as pilgrim ways, to the shrine of the apostle St. James the Great in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain.  Pilgrims (peregrino) have walked these ways for over 1,000 years, following the simple scallop shell signs, and often with a Pilgrim’s staff.

The pathways are very popular with modern walkers – Martin Sheen starred in The Way, a movie about the camino, and the transformative effect it has on people.

Lyn Taylor’s Adventure Travel are one of the women focused travel companies that have several trips to offer those wishing to walk the Camino.

pilgrims walk spain caminoFully Guided bus assist option

Their most popular is the fully guided, and bus assisted which gives you the option of walking as many km that you can manage, and where you can hop off and on the bus every 6 kms, all you need to do is carry a light day pack, included is an experienced English speaking guide, several excursions, excellent accommodation including breakfast and dinners. (that sounds like me!)

Self Guided Option

Lyn Taylor’s Adventure Travel also offer a selection of popular self- guided tours, where you can enjoy being independent, and free to walk alone or with another Pilgrim.

This is the perfect way to enjoy the Camino, we will provide you with a guide book, Pilgrims passport and shell, and 24 hour phone support . You will be guided by a yellow arrow the whole way and all tours will include, excellent accommodation in farmhouses and hostels, including breakfast in double or single room with bathroom, MP3 to visit Santiago (historical centre/ self guided).

Just choose your preferred route and travel dates and our specialists will create the perfect itinerary for you.

Lyn Taylor’s Adventure is now organising Trips to the Arctic and Antartica

After months of planning, weeks of anticipation and long-haul flights from Sydney, we finally arrived at Ushuaia, known locally as el fin del Munda (the end of the world), raring to begin our Antarctic adventure. At 1600 we clambered up the gangway where our crew showed us our cabins, I must say we were pleasantly […]
