Seeing Ireland from the back of a Horse

October 9, 2014 by Rosemary

WP-Ireland-trail-ride-504x331Gallop through the greenery on an exhilarating horseback riding tour in Southwest Ireland

Ireland is known as an equestrian paradise, and there is no better way to see the countryside and verdant Irish landscape than from the back of an Irish horse!

Horses have been cornerstones of Celtic culture for hundreds of years; this is where the steeplechase was invented and fox hunting on horseback became a tradition. Join the Ireland Horseback Riding tour in September 2015 for a riding vacation in Southwest Ireland, galloping over the green hills and beaches of County Kerry, through part of Ireland’s famous “Ring of Kerry”.

WP-2-Ireland-horseback-Irish-horse-at-stables-473x331The journey takes you riding along the Killarney Reeks Trail, past monasteries, castles and ancient ruins, and the constantly changing scenery from the mountains to the sea. We’ll gallop on golden beaches and post along garden trails lined with showy red fuchsia. We’ll enjoy lunches at local pubs, or pack sandwiches and scones to eat along the trail. We’ll spend our evenings in friendly taverns discussing the day’s ride over pints of ale and pots of tea.

For more than 30 years, AdventureWomen has led women-only adventure vacations for active travelers over 30, with 70 percent of guests returning year after year to experience more of what AdventureWomen has to offer. For more information, call 800-804-8686 or visit www.adventurewomen.com.

This trip is rated as Moderate, with English riding experience required. You must be able to post a trot and canter/gallop competently in an English saddle. Travel dates for Ireland Horseback Riding are Sept. 18-26, 2015 at $4,295 per person.
