Walking Tours in Istanbul – let a woman show the way…

May 27, 2009 by Rosemary

Walk Istanbul

Just had a great email from Arzuk in Istanbul:

I am so happy to have found you:) One of my future clients recommended the journeywoman website and there I found you! I have a small entrepreneur web site for walks in Istanbul…i’ve done it all on my own so I am quite proud of it! ..I tailor daily walking trips in Istanbul with my 10 years of experience. I think I am the only woman who is doing this in Turkey..

Find out more about Arzuk and her tours..

There are some women that have been doing Istanbul tours for a few years now, their website is http://www.womenontour.co.uk and I knew about them when I decided to go to Istanbul by myself a couple of years ago. They work with local guides too and I had a great time, the support woman was great and we did lots of activities that weren’t actually planned, mixing with the locals, we even joined a boat party at the last minute, I strongly recommend them. The group was small, just 6 of us and I’m still in touch with two of the women from the group, it was a fantastic bonding experience.

I will be sure to look you up when I come to Turkey. How wonderful that you have done this on your own. You should be proud. Your sisters all over the world are here for you!

There is no doubt that the climate change affects many touristic areas transforming them unexpectedly. The need for greet tourism becomes acute, we have to act more responsibly and start protecting these places. I had the chance to have a green vacation and I am telling you that I had the same exact fun as before only this time I felt better because I know I don’t affect any touristic area. Turkey is a great place for green tourism, I will definitely go back there.

I will be in Istanbul about May 24 for 2-3 days after traveling solo on a backpacking trip thru Greek Islands, then headed to southern Italy.

Wondering if you have any tours of Istanbul (probably a day would be fine). I travel alone most of the time but think Istanbul is so large, it would be nice to have a guide.

    Thanks,
    Sally

Not sure you got my last comment. I will be traveling on a solo backpack trip thru Greek Islands, and in Istanbul about May 24 for 2-3 days. It’s a big city and would be nice to have a guide. Do you know of anyone who could take about a day to show me the city? I’ll then be off to S. Italy.

    Thanks very much,
    Sally
