From the latest Wild Women Expeditions newsletter
“I just got back from Haida Gwaii. OMG, it was the most amazing kayak trip ever! Everything was perfect! The beauty, the sea, the camaraderie, the silence, the lack of bugs, the extensive knowledge of the guides, the safeness I felt in the sea because of those guides and I am not a very experienced paddler either.
My spirit is renewed, my daily life is now graced with thoughts of the peacefulness I felt. The women I shared this journey with touched my heart and soul. This trip goes to the top of my pile of ‘trips of a lifetime’.”
This excited message Faye sent after her Haida Gwaii Kayak Adventure in British Columbia was a sentiment that I’ve heard from so many women. She even came back to do the same trip with us in Haida Gwaii the year after!
It’s no wonder – Haida Gwaii’s Gwaii Haanas was voted the “#1 wilderness park destination in North America” by National Geographic and the world class paddling there offers an experience unlike any other. And you don’t need to be a very experienced kayaker to enjoy this adventure!
Last summer Jennifer Haddow, director of Wild Women Expeditions had the pleasure to kayak in Haida Gwaii, exploring the Haida First Nation waterways and passing their totem poles on islands that vibrate with ancient culture.
I have rarely experienced such a pristine, peaceful wilderness. Haida Gwaii hosts some of the richest diversity of marine life on the planet and the kaleidoscope of colours in the intertidal zones were magical. I am still glowing from the memories of that trip…
