Las Olas Women’s Surf Camp Expands

February 27, 2015 by Rosemary

slide3This spring, Las Olas Surf Safaris for Women will introduce two new opportunities for their guests. Beginning February 2015, Las Olas will offer Mas Olas, or “more waves,” a customized curriculum for returning or advanced surfers. In March 2015, Las Olas will launch It’s Your Wave, a surf-centric workshop focusing on positive mental reinforcement and personal development.

Mas Olas was developed by Las Olas founder Bev Sanders and surf coach Amanda LeVett to offer personalized instruction tailored to each student’s specific goals.  They are based in Mexico.

“A whole generation of women have come of alasolasge since Las Olas started the first women’s surf camp in 1997,” says Bev. “Women are now looking for more ways to improve their surfing skills. Our goal is to join them on their journey.”

The second offering, It’s Your Wave, was developed by Bev and certified executive life coach and marathon trainer, Deseri Garcia. At the open-air Las Olas Clubhouse, Garcia will teach Mindfulness techniques and individualized support for guests learning to surf. Las Olas surf coaches will also be on hand to answer wave-related questions.

“Having an attitude of openness, eagerness, and lack of preconceptions is important,” reveals Bev. “The barrier to learning is often fueled by a student’s initial fears and self doubt. Cultivating a quiet mind not only helps overcome these obstacles, but also allows students to focus, advance, and surf with confidence.”

“Again and again, I hear stories of how the Las Olas experience spills into the rest of our lives, allowing us to return home and have profoundly positive effects on our families and communities. Helping women apply the lessons learned in the ocean is an important part of our mission.”

Also this season, Las Olas announces a new swimming pool where guests can meet up and practice their cannonballs. “But that’s for recess,” reminds Bev.

Las Olas surf safaris for women was founded in 1997 by Bev Sanders, a pioneer in women’s board sports who learned to surf at the age of 44. Las Olas has successfully introduced thousands of women to the joys of warm water surfing and defined a popular category for women’s adventure tourism worldwide––the surf camp for women.

The company motto is
“We make girls out of women.”
