Making The Most Of Boston Is Easy With These Tips

January 29, 2016 by Rosemary

So you’ve decided to explore Boston –  Boston is an amazing city that’s famed for many things, from history to food. With lots to see and do, no matter whether you’re traveling with a friend or solo, you can plan the most fantastic trip.

Panoramic Boston

Of course, the great thing about travelling alone is that you don’t have to please anyone but yourself. You can go where you want when you want. However, travelling with travel buddies often tends to be more fun. Whatever way you’ve chosen to travel, make the most of your trip to Boston with these handy tips. Have a read, take the advice on board, and make your trip memorable for all the right reasons.

Where you choose to stay can make or break your trip, so make sure to get it right. The important thing with selecting a hotel for your trip is ensuring that it’s in a good location. And also that it’s affordable, cosy, and comes well recommended. Of course, finding a hotel that offers all of that and is within your budget is never easy is it?

Well actually, if you’re smart about where you book from, it can be. Don’t book directly through the hotel, go online and have a browse. Start off by comparing the prices of hotels on various sites, and include discount sites, like Hotwire, in your search. Do this and you should be able to find all the best hotel deals, making your trip much cheaper and more affordable.

Be prepared to do lots of walking

The best way to explore Boston is on foot, so be prepared to do lots of walking. While there is plenty of public transport on offer – you can get around by subway, train, bus, and boat, it’s better to walk from place to place. That’s because, if you opt to take public transport you’ll miss out on some of Boston’s most amazing sites.

If you love history, take a walk along the Freedom Trail. Here you can see the history of some of the US’s most powerful political moves. If you’ve always wanted to see Europe, take a walk down to North End, this is Boston’s own version of Italy. Is architecture your thing? If so, go to Harvard Square and have a wonder – you’ll love what you see.

Eat lots of seafood

Boston is the US capital of seafood, so while you’re there, you have to sample some of the delicious delicacies on offer. From street markets to eateries, you’ll find plenty of places serving an array of tasty fish dishes. The best dishes on the menu have to be boiled lobster and clam chowder, so make sure to give these two a try.

If you’re not a fan of seafood that’s okay, there’s plenty of other food to choose from. Gorgeous pizzas, delicious pasta dishes, and all sorts of meats and grills are on offer throughout the city. So whatever you fancy, you should be able to find it here. The best thing about eating out in Boston is that not only is the food fantastic, but also affordable.

Stay safe while you’re away

Of course, if you opt to travel solo, it’s important to realise that safety should always be your number one priority. While Boston doesn’t have high crime rates, it’s still important to be aware and make every effort to keep yourself safe. Don’t walk down dark streets, try to stay in areas with lots of people, and always carry a phone with you. Stay safe and you can have the most incredible trip.

So there you have it, everything that you need to know about making the most of a trip to Boston.
