Celtic Heart Tours – August 2012
With Irish roots on both sides of my genealogy, I’ve had a deep love for Ireland even before I first set foot on Irish soil in 2002. Since then I have returned again and again, responding to a tug on my heart that keeps pulling me back. Or as Irish poet W.B. Yeats said, “I feel it in my deep heart’s core.” so writes Celtic Heart Tours Director Marcie Miller
As a solo traveler I realize it’s not always easy for women to travel. On my first trip to Ireland I joined a “backpacker tour,” which consisted of me — a middle-aged woman — and 15 boisterous 20-somethings.
It was not a group that I would have chosen to travel with, but there were no other small group tours that catered more to my wants.
Still, I loved our adorable Irish driver/guide, and it was great to have someone else drive so I could enjoy the scenery.
On subsequent trips to Ireland, both solo, with my mother and with my life partner, I rented cars and navigated the harrowing, narrow roads of Ireland. We saw countryside that large tours don’t, but I thought, there had to be a better — and safer — way to explore all that Ireland has to offer.
I began Celtic Heart Tours as a way to share my love of Ireland with other women and to give them the opportunity to experience the fun and freedom that comes from traveling with like-minded women in a small, flexible tour group.
I’ve done the legwork and on-the-ground research to ensure that Celtic Heart Tours can provide the perfect Irish experience, whether this is your first time or a return visit. I will accompany each group as tour director and a professional, Irish driver will be behind the wheel of a fantastic 16-seat Mercedes coach.
