Edge of Seven Announces 2013 Trek with a Purpose to Everest Base Camp to Provide Education for Girls in Nepal
Combining a once-in-a-lifetime adventure with the opportunity to help educate girls in the developing world, Edge of Seven, a nonprofit based in Denver, Colo., is excited to announce our 21-day Trek with a Purpose to Everest Base Camp departing in October 2013.
Perfect for adventure seekers who want to experience the beauty and challenge of trekking through Nepal’s Himalayas while giving back to those they encounter, Trek with a Purpose’s base itinerary will take travelers from Kathmandu to Everest Base Camp, introducing them to Sherpa culture along the way.
Trekkers with a hunger for more adventure and culture will also have the opportunity to add on a climb up Island Peak, the famed 20,305-foot-tall mountain in the Everest Region, as well as take a cultural tour of Edge of Seven’s community development projects in the lower Solukhumbu.
All proceeds raised by trekkers participating in the trek will go toward Edge of Seven’s Community Development Program, which creates access to education for girls and women in Nepal by supporting and funding educational infrastructure projects.
Trek with a Purpose to Everest Base Camp is perfect for anyone with a desire to:
Experience trekking along the most famous route in the Himalayas, while viewing peaks that are over 20,000 feet tall;
- Challenge themselves physically and mentally while giving back to the greater cause of providing education for marginalized girls and women in Nepal;
- Immerse themselves in the Nepalese and Sherpa cultures;
- Travel to gain greater insight about themselves and the world.
