MOROCCO

Next Trip Planned – February 2017
18 Days Walking/Camping in Southern Morocco

In the early part of 2013, my partner and I journeyed overland through Morocco in our truck for three months. We covered a lot of territory and travelled in many places that are not offered on other ‘Moroccan’ tours.

The diversity of landscapes and environments in Morocco is like travelling to many countries rolled into one. From the high Atlas Mountains where there was still snow, to the Desert on the edge of the Sahara and then on to the Atlantic was a grand tour, to say the least.

Travelling the way we did, in our own truck also gave me a ‘hands on’ opportunity to visit many incredibly beautiful sites and personally look through many kasbahs, guesthouses and hotels to find the very best accommodation that Morocco has to offer. Stunning is the best word to comes to my mind to describe these unbelievably ornate places of abode.

We ate traditional Moroccan fare, in the ancient Medina in the awesome city of Fez, fresh calamari and fish, just caught, on the edge of the Atlantic in Essaouira, sat on the flat roof top of one of the many eating houses in Marrakesh with freshly brewed coffee and ate fish and chips “Moroccan’ style in a tent, in a market high up in a village where the folks still come to town on Donkeys. Authentic Moroccan experiences? Yes!

After some very successful and enjoyable overland adventures in Mongolia, Rensina van den Heuval has developed some overland tours in Morocco – contact her if you would like to organise a trip off the beaten track in Morocco.

If anyone has a small group (3 to 4) of people who want a tour in Morocco, then I will run one to suit.

Just Email me and I can design a tour based on the desires/needs of the group

Morocco

Morocco

There is nothing plain in Morocco!

I invite you come with me and explore this  rich and ancient culture with me.

  • We travel north to the Blue Town of Chefchaouen high in the Atlas mountains.
  • Down to Meknes and  the small, stunning  city of Fez.
  • From there, we travel south east to ancient Kasbahs and the edge of the desert in 4X4’s.

Imagine camels, Bedoin tents, magnificent sunsets, silences, surreal landscapes and starry nights.

  • From the stillness of the desert we travel to Marrakesh, the melting pot of Moroccan culture, city of  chaotic and colorful spectacles.
  • Onwards we travel,  to the enchanting, laid back coastal town of Essaouira.

Ornate architecture, a quaint, vibrant medina, sounds of the seventies, delicious seafood, magnificent artwork and  the ancient art of  wooden boat building will keep you well and truly stimulated.

We  will see the very best of Morocco, taking in The Atlas Mountains, the Atlantic, Oasis and leave a footprint in the sands of the magnificent  Sahara.

A West African Border

A West African Border

Allen stops the truck amidst a billowing cloud of red dust. In Australia we call it; bull dust. Fine like talcum powder and it gets in everywhere; in the truck, in your clothes and in your ears, nose and mouth. It’s hot, intensely hot, unbelievably hot, 43C-45C and has been for weeks. Night time in […]

Mongolia – Food Glorious Food

Mongolia – Food Glorious Food

Rensina van Den Heuval regularly takes small trips to Mongolia – you can join her 24 August – 9 September 2019 this year More. Here she writes about food in Mongolia. Dumplings… Sitting in a teeny cafe in a Gobi desert town of Dalanzadgad, I see a very tall young Mongolian man saunter through the […]

West Coast of Africa

West Coast of Africa

The West Coast of Africa is a place that I have dreamed of travelling in for a ‘lifetime’…but the opportunity never presented itself and I was always busy ‘doing’ other things. I have travelled in many countries now and as the world has changed a lot since my teenage dreams of it, Africa has waited. […]

Walk with Camels

Walk with Camels

Rensina is once again heading overland.  This time in Australia. “Just stay up on the wagon, hang on to the reins and hold the handbrake as well; in case they bolt,” Debbie yelled at me as she attempted to control the two huge woolly beasts which she has just harnessed to the wagon which I […]
