Travel as a Spiritual Quest

Morrocan Invitation to come in
Morrocan Invitation to come in

When I ran Waihoihoi Lodge as a guest house for traveling women, I found it interesting that although women were on ‘holiday’, it was mostly something more than that.  Their time out was framed not only as an escape, but as an opportunity to be open to new experiences, to growing, to encountering new ways of being.

They are in a magic ‘Liminal’ space, where they have left where they had lived, and had not yet arrived at their destination – they were ‘in- between’.  It is a time of great potential and power if we choose to grab hold of it, it is a time of danger too – the boundaries that usually protect and enclose us are gone.

Some people want to engage in an intentional spiritual quest, others it is simply the way they travel.

Women Travel the World

It is one of the reasons on my Women Travel the World website, we have a couple of special search categories fo those who want a more intentional ‘retreat’.

  • Retreat Accommodation for Women around the world – search by country
  • Tours that have a retreat focus – search by date or area

Spiritual Quest Tours

Spirit_Quest_Nav_Logo2This is a new company I have come across who organise some wonderful tours to challenge and enrich the soul. Search here

While they don’t have women-only trips, they do offer many trips that appeal to women almost exclusively, especially our Eat Pray Love tour – usually there are 80-100% women on each of those trips. Our guides in Bali are both male, and my partner, who is a man, usually co-leads, so there’s still a balance.

  • Eat Pray Love in Bali
  • Mystical Morocco
  • Sacred England
  • Esoteric America
  • Spirit of Bhutan

Travel is not only for body and not only a outer journey. Its should be also for soul to develp love, compassion and Universal values. Going on spiritual quest is following “Middle way Path”
