Baby Boomer Women – Adventure Travel

Women are on the move – especially women of the Baby Boomer generation. If you’ve felt the urge to see different places and experience a new adventure, you’re not alone. The Travel Industry Association estimates that 32 million single American women traveled at least once last year – and a lot of them were Boomers.

One of the best ways to get a genuine taste of a country and its culture is to experience it on foot, visiting its markets. Here, friends enjoy la dolce vita at an open air market in Italy.

“I’m in my early sixties, and in the last year, I traveled thousands of miles – with my husband and children, with girlfriends and alone,” says Harriet Lewis, vice chairman of Grand Circle Corporation. The company specializes in international travel and adventure for Americans aged 50 or older.

Rosemary Neave director of a number of  portals and blogs for women travellers is one of those boomers and set up her websites so that more women could see what was available.  “There are so many great tours out there – I have been to Morocco, cruised down the Canal du Midi on a Barge and toured Vietnam with some great womens tour companies”
