Lesley Cooley had always had a passion for travel – she has just taken over Broad Horizons – an established Canadian Womens Travel Company. It is just one of the wonderful women’s travel companies offering tours on Women Travel the World. Here she tells her story:
I did a bit of travelling in my 20’s but life’s commitments put my travelling on hold. In the meantime, I worked and raised my two wonderful children. When my children had grown it was time to ignite that passion once again to discover the world.
I decided to go to night school and take Travel & Tourism and educate myself as much as I could about travel industry. I embraced the process of learning about this industry and knew at that time that I wanted to start a career involving travel.
The avenue that I wanted to take within the industry was creating a women’s only travel group. I wanted to create exciting original trips, host them and also make some long lasting friendships along the way.
Coincidentally one day I had the pleasure of connecting with a person who had a woman’s travel group that they were looking to have a new person take over.
This was the Broad Horizons Network which had been running for a few years at that point and quite successfully. This was exactly what I was looking for and this was a perfect opportunity to do things within this industry that I really wanted to do.
I have had several years of sales, customer service and event planning experience and knew that I could incorporate my previous experience into my new career path.
I’m looking to create some new and exciting adventures for this group. It will provide a safe and protective environment for women to travel solo without paying the expensive cost of the single supplement.
I want to continue to make this company successful and encourage women to see the world and make some wonderful friendships with like-minded women.
