Do you travel just to tick a box, or do you explore with a focus – food, wine, cycling, hiking, culture.
For Isabelle Fish her passion is jewelry. Her passion for jewelry led not only to her own travels, but to leading others on Journeys Through Jewelry with her company Rue Pigalle.
I am french but have lived in many countries around the world. I was a lawyer for most of my life but decided in 2010 to open my jewelry boutique in Toronto.
Her clients always wanted to join her on buying trips, so in 2017 Isabelle decided to start organising trips to cities and countries where jewelry and craftsmanship of excellence could be discovered.
I only take women on my trips because something special happens when women travel together. Difficult to put my finger on what it is other than great warmth, generosity of the heart and joy is present during the trip.
My mission: is to promote and support craftsmanship of excellence in all its form, and more particularly jewelry. Craftsmanship is a fundamental element of our society in keeping us grounded and connected to each other.
An object made by hand has the soul of the maker in it, unlike machine made objects.
Craftsmanship requires skills that of course can and should evolve over time but must not disappear. Jewelry tells stories. Everyone owns a piece of jewelry, even if it’s only a string tied around the wrist.
And every piece of jewelry has a story that binds the wearer to someone or a place, an event, a memory. It tells the stories of power struggles, cultural shifts, alliances – it has a historical, geographical, military, anthropological, sociological dimension (and much more). So it’s a delightful way to learn about our world.
My clientele: is women 45 and up who want to learn, enrich themselves intellectually, travel, discover new places, meet new women all while having fun. They like the highly curated itineraries, personalised service, intimate group size (10 maximum).
They want to travel alone but not be lonely. They bring their daughters to carve out special time together, away from the busy schedule. They come with their friends to have a good time.
Here is the upcoming trip to NYC for jewelry week in November https://blog.ruepigalle.ca/blog/new-york-city-jewelry-week-2019 and in January Explore the Colours of India – bookings are open!
