5 Travel Tips for Your Next Adventure

October 3, 2016 by Rosemary

travel-778338_1920We’re a world full of people who love to travel and experience the world. Millions of us head from our home countries to destinations around the globe looking to try out local culture or relax away from home.

It’s important to make the most out of travelling though, whether solo or with others, so here are five tips for your next adventure.

1. Always be Ready to Try Somewhere Different

The world is a huge place, with so many different places to visit, so even if you’ve got a favourite spot make sure you try somewhere different each trip. See as much of the world as possible while you can, there’s always time to revisit places if you’re that desperate. Each trip should also have a different element, for example road trip, hiking or relaxing on the beach.

On my last trip to South America, the different thing was doing a 4WD adventure in Bolivia.

2. Stay Away from Tourist Areas to Get the Best Experience

While everybody wants to see the popular tourist sites at any location, once you’ve been to all the picture taking spots, head away from the tourist parts and into local territory. The best way to learn about a location or culture is from the people who live there. If you’re lucky, you might get to live with the locals to experience the culture further.

Use local transport – catch local buses, eat where they eat.

3. Book Your Accommodation Before You Go

Before you board the plane make sure you have your travelling route set out. Book any accommodation that you’re going to stay in far in advance. Planning before you go will save stresses while on your trip, meaning that you make the most of every place and relax as much as possible. Luxury chalets in Chamonix, for example, are a beautiful place to stay if you’re looking to book a skiing holiday in France. However, they do get booked up quickly so it pays to book early.

It is such a disappointment to miss out on a special place – I agree that when you know where you are going to be for a night, book ahead and research where is a great place to stay.

4. Take Lots of Holiday Snaps

Make sure you have a great smartphone or fancy camera to take plenty of snaps while you’re away. When travelling around the world you’re going to experience some beautiful views and amazing sights, to make sure you can remember every aspect, take plenty of pictures. Once you return you can create a holiday scrapbook that you can look at to diminish any holiday blues.

My suggestion is to make a ‘best of’ collection of photos to share with friends – don’t bore them with the unedited stream!

5. Try the Local Cuisine

guinea-pig-peru-what-to-doWe all like our home comforts and foods that remind us of home, but while you’re away make sure you try every bit of local cuisine that you can. Each country will have a dish that it’s known for, so make sure you give it a try whether it’s a food you would usually eat or not.

My last trip to Peru – I decided I had to try Guinea Pig – and I did

Travelling is one of the best parts of life. So, if you’re lucky enough to be able to travel around the world, make sure you make the most of it. With these 5 travel trips you are guaranteed to have a successful time.

Decide on all the places you want to visit in the world, and create a map where you can tick each place off once you’ve visited it. Finally, we hope you enjoy your travels!

Great article. #2 reminds me of another article I just read: “Travel With a Plan” at http://www.therunawayruca.com. I was also blown away by the guinea pig – wonder how that tastes!
