Driving can be definitely fun if you make it enjoyable, and what better way to achieve that goal than by tackling some of the best off road locations on the planet?
It helps to be driving a vehicle that is built for the job, like the Jeep Cherokee for instance. Once you have a great set of wheels you are ready for some adventure, here is a look at some amazing places to explore.
Grand Junction for grand adventures
When it comes to outdoor adventure opportunities, there is no doubt that Colorado is a place that manages to tick a lot of boxes, including offering some grand off roading adventures.
Head to Grand Junction in Colorado and you will find a range of different off-road trails that each offer a unique set of challenges, such as the soft terrain found on the Grand Mesa Trail and neighboring Bangs Canyon, which will truly test your technical abilities to the limit.
If you are looking to test yourself across a range of different off road disciplines, Grand Junction is certainly a place where you can do just that.
Take the Red Rooster trail if you want to enjoy the scenery and the ride
The Red Rooster & Chute Lake Trail near Braeloch in British Columbia, is a popular destination for off roaders who want to take things a bit easier behind the wheel and enjoy the scenery as much as the drive.
It is not to say that Red Rooster doesn’t offer any test of your off road skills, but this is a destination where you are spoilt for choice, with so many different trails branching off the main route, allowing you to even end up in Naramata wine country at the South End, as your reward.
Iceland- A land full of extremes
If you are looking for something a bit different, you might want to head to Iceland, where they don’t seem to do normal in any number of ways.
The first point about Iceland is that this is a country of extremes, certainly in terms of weather. The land of volcanoes has very distinct seasons where it can get very hot or very cold, but this is one of the factors that make off roading there such a buzz.
If you are excited by the prospect of speeding over a frozen lake and tackling all sorts of rugged terrain, some with narrow tracks that leave little margin for error, then you will feel right at home alongside the Icelanders, who enjoy using their own extreme formula driving course there and everything else that this land of extremes has to offer.
These are just a few examples of some of the amazing venues around the world where you can test your vehicle and your driving skills to the very limit, if you want to. There are also plenty of great places where you can enjoy some amazing scenery, to add to your driving experience, so start planning your next off road adventure.
